The essence of the story is based on the unique "Hope's Peak Academy", an elite school that selects the "ultimate students" each year, i.e. those who are the most gifted in their respective fields.

Not surprisingly, such success has spawned mobile versions of the game, as well as two anime adaptations to the delight of fans.
