Netorare in Hentai
A large portion of Japanese series are published under the Netorare or NTR genre. Note that this is a representation of a subgenre of Hentai. True to the script lines of hentai, Netorare is however distinguished by its penchant for the theme of betrayal, which becomes the problematic between the two partners.
The Hentai Genre
Hentai is a genre of Japanese anime distinguished by its sexually explicit nature. A hentai story usually attempts to exaggerate forms, transfigure taboo subjects and make sexual measures explicit. However, this type of Japanese cartoon has many styles, many sexual orientations: lesbians, bisexuals, homosexuals, bondage, zoophilia, fairy creatures, monsters, incest, forced sex, etc. Indeed, hentai has no limits. So all the story creator has to do is to imagine the scenes beyond imagination and cleanly transfigure them into the videos.
The history of Netorare
The term Netorare, literally meaning infidelity or adultery, has long figured in the hentai lexicon. It was born just after the emergence of the term Hentai among Japanese manga or anime fans. Hence the subgenre was born, which then features a woman cheating on her partner (either a legitimate partner or a boyfriend) or a very close friend in love with her.
The Netorare Principle
A genre that has far surpassed its origins, Netorare has largely distinguished itself from classic anime and manga. In fact, over time it has become a fundamentally adulterous Japanese term, because of its theme of betrayal in love. By its principles, Netorare is a genre in which the cartoonist's intention is to provoke a deep emotion of jealousy or anguish in the viewer. In most cases, this subgenre of Hentai features a protagonist (i.e., a girl) who usually has sex with another person with or without the knowledge of her legitimate partner. This type of scene can take many forms, some of which include rape or forced sex. But the continuity of the story often results in the girl ending up wanting more sensations, more pleasures, and thus forced sex. Another subgenre of Netorare, netori, is a style of story in which the protagonist steals another man's daughter.
The main variants of Netorare
By definition, Netorare is a subgenre designed to create a feeling of jealousy or angst in the reader or viewer. There are three main types of stories. In the first type, the female protagonist consents to sex with her illegitimate partner; while in the second type, the woman is raped at first, but sooner or later comes to love her illegitimate partner. In contrast, the third type of Netorare involves a woman who is raped from the beginning to the end of the story without loving her illegitimate partner. It should be remembered that the protagonist of a Netorare cartoon can be either a woman or a man. In addition, Netorare can also (though rarely) borrow guiding ideas from the Yaoi (series featuring sex between men) and Yuri (women with each other) subgenres.
Characteristics of Netorare characters
In its most general form, Netorare, like some Hentai subgenres, depicts male or female characters with often exaggerated physical appearances. However, some series that combine Yaoi/Yuri (sexual relations between homosexual characters) with Netorare feature childlike protagonists with immature physical appearance. However, the vast majority of Netorare anime feature protagonists with virile or muscular (for men) and sexy (for women) appearances.
Some notable Netorare works
One of Netorare's most popular series is the "Haramitai Kanojo" saga, written and drawn by Nico Pun Nise. It is closely followed by "34-Year-Old Begging Wife" by Kuroki Hidehiko and "Deep Stalker - Sono Kawa de Bishoujo ni Naru" by author Date. Beyond these series is the title "Tatoeba Haha Ga" written and drawn by Tsuyatsuya. But other more classic series such as "Tatoeba Haha Ga" by Tsuyatsuya or "Aaan Megami-sama" by Hiroaki HORI are also successful in the Netorare market.
